The November deals with the themes of death, silence and emptiness and the meditative aspect of photography. The works have been influenced by Zen Buddhism, traditional Japanese visual art subjects and ikebana.

In 2013, I met a Buddhist man, a Zen practitioner, who had an incurable illness. I began to photograph him and familiarize myself with Zen meditation. We often discussed what was coming. His peaceful attitude towards the situation had a profound impact on me. November deals with the shadow of death in the light of Zen. Death as a theme cannot be ignored or over-discussed. It is eternal and always relevant. Silence, emptiness and stopping before the essential are part of the same entity.

November is dedicated to the memory of Juhani Keskinen (1977-2017).

Teoskokonaisuus Marraskuu käsittelee kuoleman, hiljaisuuden ja tyhjyyden teemoja sekä valokuvan meditatiivisuutta. Teokset ovat saaneet vaikutteita zen-buddhalaisuudesta, perinteisistä japanilaisen kuvataiteen aiheista sekä ikebanasta.
Tapasin 2013 buddhalaisen miehen, zen-harjoittajan, joka sairasti parantumatonta sairautta. Aloin kuvata häntä sekä tutustua zen-meditaatioon. Keskustelimme monesti tulevasta. Hänen rauhallinen suhtautumisensa tilanteeseen vaikutti minuun syvästi. Marraskuu käsitteleekin kuoleman varjoa zenin valossa. Kuolemaa aiheena ei voi ohittaa tai käsitellä puhki. Se on ikuinen ja aina yhtä ajankohtainen. Hiljaisuus, tyhjyys ja pysähtyminen oleellisen edessä ovat osa samaa kokonaisuutta.

Marraskuu on omistettu Juhani Keskisen (1977-2017) muistolle.
